Upgrading Brisbane Bayside State College Security with Access Control Systems

John Barnes was proud to secure the contract for installing a Salto wireless access control system at Brisbane Bayside State College (BBSC). BBSC faced challenges such as lost keys, unauthorised access, and a lack of key location reporting, and it needed a modern security solution. We addressed these issues by installing a Salto Online system while replacing damaged door hardware.

The project required completion during school holidays, and our team successfully installed wireless gateways, nodes, and Salto XS4 escutcheons ahead of schedule. A key feature of the system was syncing teacher identification cards with the Salto Mifare cards for compatibility with the access control system.

A highlight was the addition of a lockdown feature triggered by a break glass box in the administration block. This feature enabled automatic door locking across the campus during an emergency. This advanced security solution improved BBSC’s safety, offering an advanced system that protected students and staff.
